Necton was born in 1997 with the purpose to create a project for the production of microalgae developed at the University. The area of abandoned salt pans existing at Belamandil became a challenge for the company, and the recovery process was begun.
The production of Hand Harvest Sea Salt and Fleur de Sel is made with a unique methodology that combines centuries-old tradition to modernity of quality processes, management and innovation to achieve product excellence. Production of Hand Harvest Sea Salt needs specific weather conditions reason why its time of extraction is only in summer.
The Fleur de Sel is made up of light crystals in the form of pallets of extreme whiteness that form on the surface of the small parts of the salt evaporation pond forming a thin layer of salt that covers them.This layer is collected every day manually with a squeegee by the salt workers.
The Hand Harvest Sea Salt is produced in small centennial salt evaporation ponds using ancestral methods. It is a 100% natural process without any processing using only sea water, solar energy and man work. The natural crystallization process is optimized so that most of the minerals present in the sea water are kept in the salt, making it a more complete salt from a nutritional point of view. After crystallization the salt is collected by hand and dried in the sun for a period of at least five days so that the remaining water evaporates, thus maximizing the percentage of magnesium and iodine present. The whiteness and humidity are unique characteristics of this salt.
